The Armory is my new favorite toy. They added some really cool things (dont know how recenlty but i just noticed them today =). When you mouse over items on characters, they tell you where they come from and, if they are a drop, how often they drop. Not only that, but they have a little menu that comes off the side of the itmes that searches for upgrades for you!!! I dont think I'm going to get any work done today.

Wow, this is pretty new, within the last day or two at most. I have been checking my profile as items weren't displaying correctly, which has been making my stats on www.wowmetrics.com look lower. The upgrade feature is EXTREAMLY kick ass, and it compares every stat and ranks upgrades.

It seems in only ranks them based on what is avilable on the server currently as I looked at my weapon, and the +1 choice is the caster sword from SSC, but there is an even better one form Hyjal that it didn't list.

I don't feel bad for stupid people, I think they should be rounded up and put into camps so as to stop afflicting the rest of us with their stupidity.

Hmm, looking at in in greater detail, the upgrade feature ins't exactly the smartest thing ever in some cases, the list it gives as un upgrade for TF as an example includes caster and healer weapons.

My guess is it is looking directly at item stats to make the determination, so, Item A has Stam, and Item B has more Stam, it lists it.

It appears to me that they have filtered the searches depending on what they think would be best for each class. It looks like it is weighing Spell Crit higher than spell damage for mages for example. It also doesnt include sockets and such. It might also take into account spec as I had a few +fire items weighed significantly higher than +frost or +arcane damage items, frost being second best as I am a Fire/Frost hybrid.

You have the lastest version of Java? You simply hover over an item slot with an item on it, say weapon, and a small arrow pops up, over over that and a box pops up that says "Find an Upgrade".

I was just checking this feature out - and although useful in some cases, you really have to look at the items to figure out what you want.

For instance, if I want an upgrade based on +spell crit - JESUS that's still a lot of searching to do amongst the list it generates.

Still, good feature - bye bye allakhazam item search.

Still broken with Camino. Works ok on Safari though.

Also, they ignore stuff like +spell hit and sockets on the upgrades.

The FAQ at the bottom of the page gives some insite into this. Apparently it takes an average item level of all your gear you are wearing as well as how rare it is and then decides what to display. It apparently does NOT take into account class or talent spec and only covers "favored stats". It also says to have as few buffs as possible when searching for upgrades as those are taken into account as well.
